Use Spell Checkers Spell checkers are useful tools in word-processing programs, but they may not recognize wrong words such as there when you mean they’re. Spell checkers don’t replace a careful reading to find errors. In addition to using a spell checker, print out and proofread your work before giving it to your teacher. Peer Review You will edit your revised draft through peer review. Just as you did during the Revise stage, you will share your writing with a partner or classmates. Look for mistakes in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar as you review each other’s drafts. Edit Your Draft Review the mistakes your partner or classmates found during the Peer Review. Then do your own edit of your revised draft. Make sure that each sentence expresses a complete thought. Make sure it has correct grammar and spelling. Use the checklist below to edit your sentences.

Phrasing is the way readers group words together. Fluent readers group words into meaningful chunks, or phrases. Readers stop briefly when they reach a period or other mark of end punctuation. They pause briefly when they see a comma or a dash.
