Step 4: Grab a Writing Checklist and self assess if you have all the qualities of an Opinion Essay. Step 5: Leave EVERYTHING in your Writing Wallet for me to grade. Introduction paragraph: In academic writing, it sets up your argument and tells the reader what to expect. The main goals of an introduction are to: Catch your reader's attention. Gives background on your topic. Body paragraph: The middle paragraphs between your introduction and concluding paragraph. A good paragraph should contain at least the following four elements: Transition, Topic sentence, specific Evidence and analysis, and a Brief wrap-up sentence Conclusion paragraph: The conclusion paragraph is the last paragraph of your essay. It should begin by restating your thesis, and then you should broaden back out to a general topic. End with a closing statement. Transition words: Key words in which create powerful links between ideas in your paper and can help your reader understand the logic of your paper. |
